2015 SYRAH
Split Rock Ranch, Paso Robles
This WRW Syrah is the ultimate expression of its place. Unlike much of the Paso Robles Syrah that is grown in limestone, this is “Naci terroir”—soil made of sandy loam over sandstone. The result is a unique—and earthy, dark berry character that is already tasting wonderful.
The 2015 Syrah holds dark perfumed aromas of sage, wine-soaked rosemary, saddle leather, boysenberry cobbler, blackberry, dusty minerals, plum skin, white pepper, and molasses.
Flavors of meat drippings, cowboy boots, blackberries, blackcurrant, black pepper, sea salt, brown sugar, and black and green olives are seamlessly brought together with fine grain tannins that sustain a long and youthful finish.

"Deep and dark-fruit aromas meet with crumpled purple flowers and white pepper on the somewhat shy nose of this bottling. There is also a restraint on the palate, where black fruit and purple flowers are encased in polished tannins." -Matt Kettmann
